Covid 19 Update Waterview Dental

Covid-19 Update

To our valued patients,

During such a very challenging time, we hope you and your family are keeping well.

Scheduling appointments since June, we continue to take extensive precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.  We want to reassure you that we are fully compliant with infection control procedures set by The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and The College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, as well as health regulations set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Toronto Public Health and Public Health Ontario.

Since we reopened, we have modified our appointment procedures. We are also taking other precautionary measures to provide the safest dental treatment experience possible, as per the outline below:

Your appointment – before you arrive:

  • Pre-screened patients for COVID-19 symptoms and possible contact with persons who have tested COVID-19-positive.

  • We send the necessary documentation (e.g. new patient registration forms) electronically for you to complete.

  • If you know of changes to your contact or insurance information or if you have questions for our reception team, please let them know before you come in for your appointment. We are limiting how much time patients spend in the reception area.

Upon your arrival at our practice:

  • Upon entering the practice, we are screening patients for COVID-19 symptoms and possible contact with persons who have tested COVID-19-positive.

  • If patients show signs or symptoms of illness, or exposure to COVID-19, we’ll request they reschedule their appointments.

  • Unless a patient requires care from a guardian or caregiver, only those patients scheduled are allowed into the office.

  • There is no physical contact with patients other than for the purposes of their treatment.

In-office measures:

  • We are providing hand sanitizer at our entrance and throughout the clinic.

  • We have removed items that are difficult to clean and disinfect, such as magazines and children’s toys.

  • We clean and sanitize common areas throughout the day.

Your treatment and care

  • We provide the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for all of our clinical and administrative staff. This equipment includes N95 (or equivalent) masks, face shields, gowns, gloves, and other protective equipment as required.

  • Before patients are granted access and seated in the treatment room, it is completely sanitized. Extra time is now scheduled between appointments to accommodate thorough cleaning and disinfection of treatment rooms and all equipment.

  • Treatment rooms have doors or barriers and air purifiers.

  • During every treatment, our staff follows strictly the guidelines set by the CDC, Public Health and our dental governing bodies.

After your appointment – checking out:

  • For your protection and that of our team, we have installed Plexiglass screens at reception counters.

  • Please come prepared for contactless payment, if you can,  otherwise, we’ll keep the terminals wiped after each use.

  • We no longer accept cash and cheques.

Helpful tips to consider for a smoother appointment

  • Try not to arrive too early and please expect a slightly longer wait time between patients. We have to disinfect and prepare the room.

  • To account for possible delays, please leave adequate time on either side of your appointment.

  • Minimize your time in the operatory after completion of your treatment; return to the front when you’re done.

  • Please call or email any questions and concerns before your visit to ensure timeliness and efficiency during your appointment. We give first priority to completing procedures and addressing your immediate concerns during your appointment.

Your safety and that of our staff is always paramount. The above measures are implemented at the recommendation of our governing bodies at the RCDSO and the CDHO. We will continue to keep you updated as these measures change.

*In the event your anticipated procedure cannot be completed in the allotted time, we’ll complete it during a separate visit. Another appointment will be made.

The safety of our patients and staff is our first priority and your dental care team is committed to your comfort and safety in the dental care you receive from our office.

We look forward to continuing reconnection with our patients and providing for your dental needs.
